For the past 60 years a resident of the Alvin community, Mrs. Hettie E. Green, 73, widow of Charles E. Green, died at her home in Alvin at 6:25 p.m. Friday, Nov, 22, 1940, following an extended illness.
Daughter of Samuel and Mary Moyer Mack, she was born Feb. 14, 1867 in Bluffton, Ind. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic church of this city and of the church Sanctuary Society.
Surviving are five sons, all of Alvin, Charles, Daniel, Donald, Samuel and Lawrence Green; four daughters, Mrs. Forrest Poland, Foxworth, Miss., Mrs. Hardy Drullinger, Carrollton, Ohio, Mrs. Earl Drullinger, Danville, and Mrs. Maurice Wilson, Alvin; 24 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Sovilla Crandall, Alvin. Her husband proceeded her in death in July 1927 and a son, Louis, died five years ago.
The body was removed to Berhalter Funeral Home and Saturday afternoon was returned to residence to remain until time of services at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Catholic Church. The Right Rev. W.J. Drummy, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, north of Alvin.
Rosary will be recited at residence at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Clarice Anges Green Drullinger stated that her Grandpa Mack was married a second time to a Sarah Ellen Bridges, and now I find this is probably correct.
However, the newspaper obit for Mrs. Samuel Mack, list's her name as Sarah., date of death being the year 1905, the year that Mary was to have died.

Therefore Samuel did remarry in 1908 to Sarah Ellen Bridges, this being her 4th marriage.
She had 8 children with 3 still living according to the census.
Mrs. Samuel Mack, an old and highly respected citizen of Alvin, died at her home in that village
yesterday morning at an early hour. She succumbed to a sroke of paralysis. No particulars of her death or
information concerning the funeral have been receivced in the city.
Sarah Mack, who died at her home in Alvin, Tuesday morning of paralysis, was 82 years old. She was born in
Pennsylvania and had lived almost all her life there. She had been a resident of Alvin for fifteen years.
She was well known in this city, where she leaves realtives. She had often visited here.
Mrs. Mack is survived by the following children: Sarah Dalton and Adam Mack, Danville; Cassie Hummer,
Sidney; Savilla Bainbridge, Rossville; Hattie Green and Lucy Randall, Alvin.
The funeral was held yesterday at 2:00 p.m. from the residence in Alvin. Interment was in the cemetery near
the village.
