~~What Cancer Cannot Do~~

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot cast away peace
It cannot destroy confidence
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot quench the spirit.
Our greatest enemy is not the disease, but despair.
Cancer might rob us of that blissful ignorance that once led
us to believe that tomorrow stretched forever.
In exchange we are granted the vision to see each day, today,
as a precious gift to be used wisely and richly.

"The Three of Us"

For as long as I remember,
There was the three of us.
Three children left fatherless
Caused by the actions of a drunk driver.

Mother never even knew her beloved
Was gone from this life.
As she struggled for her own life
And the life of their unborn child.
A child not expected to be born
Due to Mother's injuries.

But God was there, watching over Mother
And the unborn child.
After several months of hospital stay
Healing her battered body,
God sent this "Miracle Baby"
As a gift from above,
A sign that there is
Hope and faith when one Believes.
A gift that this Mother, brother, sister
Could shower their love and heal their
Hearts of loss.
That "Miracle Baby" was me.

Mother gave the three of us
The best she could.
Sometimes we never understood how hard
She struggled to raise us,
But when I became a Mother myself,
I finally knew the many sacrifices
She made and the love she had
For the Three of Us.

Mother left us several years ago
To be with Daddy,
I know He was waiting for her
But was content to wait until
Her chores were done here on earth.
If he could have changed his families
Life here on earth,
And somehow made it all better,
I know he would have.
But God had a plan.
Then there was the Three of Us.

We took separate paths,
You loved and lost,
You made mistakes in your life
And asked to be forgiven.

Cancer came into your life,
You made decisions you thought
Would be carried out, your wishes
Never came to pass.
The long talks we had,
Your words will never be forgotten.
You regretted the choices you made
On how to spend your last days on earth.
The faith and trust you had,
To fulfill your last wishes, you said,
"I know now, these things will never happen.
My trust was misplaced. I will always
Love you and love our sister. I should have followed my heart."
The Three of Us.

Now you are gone,
Finally at peace.
The pain is over.
God saw your struggle and
He knows all.
And I remember your words,
"What goes around, comes around."
This I believe.

Once there was the Three of Us,
Now it is the Two of Us.
I miss you now and always,
Family ties never can be broken,
I love you,
God Bless, you know we will
Never forget.
