Honest people working at their desks,
Their lives lost or shattered by what happened next.
Highjacked airplanes had taken aim,
And American lives, won't be the same.
The target, the Pentagon, and New York's Twin Towers,
The world watched in horror, in the following hours.
Unbelievable, inconceivable, were words that were said,
As firemen and policemen, lined up the dead.
Then some hero shouted, as he pointed above,
And the buildings tumbled down, enclosing people like a glove.
This terrorist act isn't over as I write this poem,
I am mad as hell, that this could happen to our home.
Americans have faced tragedy before,
But never like this, knocking on our door.
We will get through this, with time, kindness, and prayer,
As the dust is still settling in the New York air.
The cowards who have done this should not get away,
And we know as Americans, we will have our day.
Stand together America, we must act as one,
And remember the day the world called, 911.
